NOTES OF ST. MARY OF SORROWS COUNCIL #8600 MEETING, 6/20/06 :
1. THE GRAND KNIGHT CALLED MEETING TO ORDER AT 8:0 PM.
2. MEMBERSHIP CARDS WERE VERIFIED BY THE DGN
3. THE OPENING PRAYER WAS LEAD BY THE GN.
4. THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIENCE WAS LEAD BY THE GN.

7. REPORT OF ADMISSION COMMITTEE:
Brother Obuchowski read the following applications:

All were voted on and approved.
This evening, a first degree ceremony was conducted. The GN then turned the meeting over to Br. Elmer May. Candidates/new Knights inducted are:

The GK then welcomed the new members,
The GK then announced that the exemplification was conducted in honor of Brother Marotta. He then explained the symbols in the Orders Crest.
Upcoming events for the rest of the year were reviewed.
8. GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORT: GRAND KNIGHT REPORTED.
Reported on Nats-Yankees game. Reported on Celebrate Fairfax. Reported on Kovar Collections and activities for the year. This weekend is family picnic – 1-5 at Burke Lake Park July 29th is Queen of Hope Picnic Aug 5th is Serra Club Picnic Next meeting is July 18th. Knight of the Month award was presented to Br. Leach Family of the Month is the GNIAZDOWSKI family, The Knight of the month for December was presented (a bit late) to Br. Smith.
The GK expressed gratitude to all those who helped him during the year.
9. READING OF BILLS AND CORRESPONDENCE:
None.
10..CHAPLAIN’S REPORT: . None.
11. TREASURER’S REPORT:
Reported that we are solvent. For the year, net revenue of $ 24,320.
Report was voted upon and approved.
12. FINANCIAL SECRETARY REPORT:
None.

16. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
From the last meeting:
Br. DeRosa moved for up to $1,000 for cost of picnic. Seconded by Br. Obuchowski. Tabled until next meeting.
Voted and approved.
Br. Obuchowski moved to provide $3,000 for Father Efrim to help with his schooling. Seconded by Br. Durback. Tabled until next meeting.
Voted and approved.
Br. Sacraida moved that we allocate up to $700 for a computer for the recorder. Brother Obuchoski seconded. During discussion the worthy treasurer suggested that we do more research into the software and hardware needed for the position and get a more accurate price before voting. Br. Wassif will review options and have more information for next meeting. It was moved by Br. Phelan that the amount be increased to up to $1,200. Seconded by Br. Wassif. Tabled until next meeting.
Voted and approved (up to $1,200).
17. NEW BUSINESS: -
None.
18. DISTRICT DEPUTY REPORT: Br. Curran welcomed the new Knights and spoke briefly on how to get the most out of your membership and urged them to progress in the Degrees of the Order.
Br. Curran presented the State Deputy’s Award for St. Mary’s Council 8600 to the GK for the 2005-2006 year.
Br. Curran also thanked the council for helping him with his District Deputy duties (his term is now up). He also introduced Br. Poumade as the upcoming District Deputy.
19. REPORT OF THE 4TH DEGREE:
None.
20. FIELD AGENT REPORT: NONE
21. GOOD OF THE ORDER: . PRAYERS WERE OFFERED FOR CONTINUED RECOVERY AND GOOD HEALTH FOR AILING BROTHERS, WIVES AND FAMILIES. WE PRAY FOR THE POPE AND ALL PRIESTS AND RELIGIOUS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, THAT THEY MAY BE REVITALIZED IN THEIR MINISTRIES. PRAYERS FOR THOSE WHO LEAD AND SERVE IN THE MILITARY AT HOME AND ABROAD. PRAYERS WERE OFFERED FOR THE SOULS OF DECEASED BROTHERS, THEIR FAMILIES AND FOR MEMBERS OF BROTHERS’ FAMILIES..
The DGK announced that today is the GK birthday and lead a rousing song of Happy Birthday and presented a birthday cake prepared by his wife.
Brother Mahoney spoke on his recent tour of duty in Iraq after the official closing of the meeting (his wife attended his presentation).
