NOTES OF ST. MARY OF SORROWS COUNCIL #8600 MEETING, 5/16/06 :
1. THE Deputy GRAND KNIGHT CALLED MEETING TO ORDER AT 8:04 PM.
2. MEMBERSHIP CARDS WERE VERIFIED BY THE WARDEN
3. THE OPENING PRAYER WAS LEAD BY THE DGN.
4. THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIENCE WAS LEAD BY THE WARDEN.

7. REPORT OF ADMISSION COMMITTEE:
Guy G. Gauthreaux and James M. Coleman were presented, voted on and approved.
8. GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORT: The Deputy GRAND KNIGHT REPORTED.
This evening we have a first degree initiation ceremony lead by First Degree Team Captain Br. Elmer May.
The first degree ceremony was then held.
Inductees were:

The DGK then welcomed the new members, Introduced Chuck Curran, Mike Poumade, Tom Parker, and Ed Strang, and had Br. May introduce the other members of the First Degree Team.
The DGN then announced that the exemplification was conducted in honor of our Worthy District Deputy Chuck Curran. He then explained the symbols in the Orders Crest.
Upcoming events for the rest of the year were reviewed.
We then moved to the District Deputy report (see below)

Br. Barone moved for up to $750 for the baseball game. Seconded by Br. Br. Cella. And tabled until the next meeting.
18. DISTRICT DEPUTY REPORT:
Br. Chuck Curran mentioned that Br. May failed to elaborate on his distinguished service in performing ceremonies. He then encouraged the new Knights to always remember the lessons of the First Degree, especially Charity. He also mentioned the background of the Order and the importance of insurance in its history.
Br. Curran then presented an award to Br. DiGregorio for his service to the Knights and KOVAR. . Br. Curran then introduced Br. Eric McBride, the Field Agent for Council 8600.
19. REPORT OF THE 4TH DEGREE:
Br. Lee reported on the 4th Degree. .
20. FIELD AGENT REPORT: Br. Eric McBride – Spoke to the new Knights and the Council.
21. GOOD OF THE ORDER: . PRAYERS WERE OFFERED FOR CONTINUED RECOVERY AND GOOD HEALTH FOR AILING BROTHERS, WIVES AND FAMILIES. WE PRAY FOR THE POPE AND ALL PRIESTS AND RELIGIOUS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, THAT THEY MAY BE REVITALIZED IN THEIR MINISTRIES. PRAYERS FOR THOSE WHO LEAD AND SERVE IN THE MILITARY AT HOME AND ABROAD. PRAYERS WERE OFFERED FOR THE SOULS OF DECEASED BROTHERS, THEIR FAMILIES AND FOR MEMBERS OF BROTHERS’ FAMILIES..
Br. Obuchoski passed on comments by Fr. Barkett to the new Knights.
Br. Vanderbeek would like us to consider donations of items for soldiers wounded in action (pillows, DVDs, TVs, etc.). Br. Vanderbeek asked that we consider this as a project for either our Council or the District.
