1. THE GRAND KNIGHT CALLED MEETING TO ORDER AT 8:03  PM.

 

2. MEMBERSHIP CARDS WERE VERIFIED BY THE WARDEN

Mother’s Day Weekend – Spaghetti Dinner and Pancake Breakfast

11th – Golf Outing at Twin Lakes

16th – First Degree Ceremony

19th – Memorial Mass at 7:00 PM for deceased brothers with food & refreshments afterwards

20th – Arthritis Walk

June 9th-11th Celebrate Fairfax

June 18th – Va State Nationals Baseball Game vs. NY Yankees

June 25th – Family Picnic & GN Appreciation Day

July 29th - Cooking diner at Point of Hope Camp for kids

Aug 5th – Sera Club cookout for Seminarians at OSMH

Aug 13th – Council Baseball Game Nationals vs Mets

 

Still looking for help finding a carport or awning for bacon/sausage cookers.

 

 

 

9. READING OF BILLS AND CORRESPONDENCE:

 

We received a card of thanks from Glenn & Maureen Cassidy for the Storage Shed the Knights constructed for them.  Special thanks to Tim Shea and Bob Richy.

 

We received a letter from Laura Leydon, Faculty Advisor at Robinson Secondary School.  She thanks us for past assistance and asks our help again.  This year they are planning a graduation party with a twist.  They will be inviting all special needs students and their friends to join in the festivities.  She asks if we can provide both financial assistance and provide volunteers to help man the games (June 2cd 6:00-9:30).

11. TREASURER’S REPORT:

 

Month of April income $14K+ with a net of $9K.  $126K total assets.

 

 

12. FINANCIAL SECRETARY REPORT:

 

            Took in $18K in last couple of weeks.  (not included in balance above).

 

 

13. AUDITORS AND TRUSTEES –

 

None

 

 

14. VOCATIONS

 

Reminder Fr. Bashista is director of vocations and maintains a web site full of useful information. 

 

Also reminded us that we sponsor Seminarian Christopher Davis.

 

 

15. .SERVICE PROGRAMS, COMMITTEE REPORTS:

 

0. Membership – REPORT BY Johnny Restivo

 

Pointed out that Mariner has all upcoming degree ceremonies.  Second degree on 25th at St. John Bosco.  Message to go out tomorrow as a reminder for all who have not advanced to second and third degree status.

 

 

A. CHURCH – REPORT BY Tom Gilding

 

Mentioned memorial mass that GN described.  Registry book will be in Church Office.

 

Sanctuary of Life has now had an area identified for its location.  We are working on a concept for the sanctuary.

 

 

B. COMMUNITY –. Gene Molinelli / Br. Burbank

 

Tim Shea lead April Improve a Home Projects.  Did two group homes and others.  Still have some more work we will be doing over the next few weeks.

 

Highway cleanup program will be done this weekend by Boy Scouts.

 

Arthritis Walk is coming on May 20th.  Please help.

 

Kovar was just completed.  Collected just under $11K over the weekend and expect to get to $14K when all is added in.

 

Celebrate Fairfax coming up in June.  Please volunteer.

 

Special Olympics needs about ten more Knights for this coming weekend.

C. COUNCIL – George Wassif

 

PGN Cella will give check for $34K+ in car raffle ticket sales.  Will net $20.8K+.  Fr. Barkett has requested some of this money be devoted to Youth Programs.

 

 

D. FAMILY -  Carlos Otel

 

John Larosa has reserved Shelter C at Burke Lake Park for June 25th.

 

May 13th/14th for Spaghetti and Pancakes.

E. YOUTH –  Rich Houlihan

 

Br. Wilkerson reported on youth activities. 

            Junior dance at Paul VI dance coming up

           

Report on Scouts was read.

 

Scout Charters are back with new frames and would like to hang in the OSMH

 

Br. Russ DeRose reported on soup suppers.  Also tour of Capital.

 

Will be distributing Beenie Babies for Baghdad.  Need volunteers for white water trip in June.

 

 

 

16. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

 

None.

 

17. NEW BUSINESS: -

 

Br. Lee moved that we donate $200 for the Robinson Partners Club Into the Night Graduation party for special needs students.  Seconded by Br. Sakraida.

 

            Voted and approved.

 

Br. Walker moved we release $3,000 for scholarships.  Seconded by Br. Jacobson.

 

            Voted and approved.

 

 

 

18. DISTRICT DEPUTY REPORT:

 

 

Br. Curran delivered a report.

 

Items Covered:

§         State Convention coming up this week.

§         Commended Council 8600 for Kovar and other activities we support.

§         Continued support for Paul VI Peer Mentoring Program

 

 

19. REPORT OF THE 4TH DEGREE:

 

PGN Lee reported on recent 4th Degree events held.

 

May 17th 4th Degree meeting.  Will be starting election process so please attend.

 

20. FIELD AGENT REPORT:  - NONE

 

 

 

 

21. GOOD OF THE ORDER

PRAYERS WERE OFFERED FOR CONTINUED RECOVERY AND GOOD HEALTH FOR AILING BROTHERS, WIVES AND FAMILIES.  WE PRAY FOR THE POPE AND ALL PRIESTS AND RELIGIOUS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, THAT THEY MAY BE REVITALIZED IN THEIR MINISTRIES.  PRAYERS FOR THOSE WHO LEAD AND SERVE IN THE MILITARY AT HOME AND ABROAD.  PRAYERS WERE OFFERED FOR THE SOULS OF DECEASED BROTHERS, THEIR FAMILIES AND FOR MEMBERS OF BROTHERS’ FAMILIES..
