8. GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORT:

GRAND KNIGHT REPORTED.

 

Feb 4th we had a wonderful evening at the Marian Homes Charity Ball.  Thanks to Fred Walker, Mark Roddy, Al Obuchowski, Jim Autry, Jake Jacobsen, Randy Jennings, Girard Durback, Jim Cella, and the rest of the Board of Directors who did a fabulous job.  Fr. Barkett and our new assistant priest Efraim also expressed gratitude.

 

Feb 11th – 8:30 Pro Life Mass and Abortion Clinic visit and Polish Night (after 5:00 PM mass).

 

Feb 12th – Pancake Breakfast

 

Feb 21st – Social Meeting and our Chili Cook Off.

 

Feb 26th – Third Degree Ceremony (see web site)

 

March 1st – Ash Wednesday

 

March is recruiting Blitz Month

 

Fourth Degree is a new possibility for an Assembly here at OSMH. (Us, Nativity, Holy Spirit & George Mason were discussed).

 

Carport or awning-cover at parish center for bacon/sausage cookers.

 

April 1 & 2 State Bowling tournament in Fredricksburg.

 

 

9. READING OF BILLS AND CORRESPONDENCE:

 

Received a note of thanks from Cheryl Bloom of NET Ministries for our contribution in support of Gerard Maurer.

 

Received a letter from Faith McCormick and Cynthia Howell-Royce asking for our support of the Robinson HS Graduation Party.

 

Received a letter from Curtis Martin of Focus thanking us for our recent donation.

 

Received two letters from Andrea Franks of HOPE in Northern Virginia thanking us for our recent donation.

 

Received a letter from Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson letting us know that a new book entitled Parish Priest: Father McGivney and American Catholicism has been published by William Morrow.

It was written by historian Douglas Brinkley and co-authored by Julie Fenster.  It is now available in book stores and on line at the KofC website.

 

10..CHAPLAIN’S REPORT:

.

Fr. Barkett spoke of Lent upcoming and suggested a Knight’s Rosary during the month.

 

March 12th at 9:00 AM Mass will be by the Bishop.  May need Knight’s support

 

Reviewed other upcoming Parish functions.

 

 

11. TREASURER’S REPORT:

 

None.

 

 

12. FINANCIAL SECRETARY REPORT:

 

            Income in Jan. was reviewed.

 

            Income $153,698 in 2005.    $142,342 spent.

           

            16,114 hours of volunteer work (About 70% of members reporting).

 

13. AUDITORS AND TRUSTEES –

 

Semi-Annual audit completed and all is OK.        

 

14. VOCATIONS

 

Arlington Diocese has schedule on website for anyone with an interest in vocations.  Please review.

 

 

15. .SERVICE PROGRAMS, COMMITTEE REPORTS:

0. Membership – REPORT BY Johnny Restivo

           

Last month we had 1st degree (3 new members). Second Degree and Third Degree had Council 8600 representation.  More degrees coming up.

 

For Blitz in March, we need to get everyone wearing their badges to Mass.

 

A. CHURCH – REPORT BY Tom Gilding

 

Sanctuary light project is moving through planning.  Location and Design are still to be resolved.  Hope to have preliminary information to report next meeting.

 

B. COMMUNITY –. Gene Molinelli / Br. Burbank

 

Community Programs Report – February 7, 2006

*Programs included are:

1.April Improve-a-Home Project – Tim Shea will lead again

Let us know of homes in special need.  Have scheduled two dates Saturday April 29 and Saturday May 13, straddling Special Olympics, so can catch volunteers who can’t make first date and cope with inclement weather.  Please leave one of these dates open.

5.Food for Others – Mike Perri has lead – found volunteers and backups to complete roster, thanks to phone tree.  Thanks especially to those knight participating and Mike Perri in taking lead.  Thanks to Pete for his continued support.  Please update website to reflect Mike Perri’s lead.

6.KOVAR – Time to schedule an open day for tootsie roll drive for KOVAR.  Dates are April 20 to 23. Roger Wesley has lead.

7.Lenten Soup Suppers – Pete Garry will lead – Look to volunteer.  Lent starts March 1.

8.Marian Homes – Christmas tree funds due to be distributed.

10.Route 123 Cleanup – Next date March 18.  If you haven’t done it yet – it’s YOUR turn.

11.Special Olympics – Saturday May 6. Let Roger Wesley know if you can participate this year.

 

* Need for 2 more people to man phones for projects.  Let Gene know if you can be one of 20 knights to call 20 members to staff up different projects.  So far each volunteer has made two or three sets of calls –another two or three should complete phone duties for the year.

Br. Wilkerson reported on Scholarship applications due and on the poster competition.

Also, Valentine bake sale after Sunday Masses.

 

Br. Sharp reported on Scouts.

 

Presented an award to Br. John LaRosa for work with Scouts.

 

 

Br. Russ DeRose reported on Squire Roses.

 

 

Brother Walker reported on the Marian Homes Charity Ball – a great success.

 

 

16. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

 

 

Last meeting, Br. Molinelli moved $400 for Lamb Center for chairs.  Seconded Br. Meinsen.

                                    Held til next meeting.

Voted and Passed

 

17. NEW BUSINESS: -

 

Br. Walker moved $6,000 be allocated to Marian Homes.  Seconded by Br. Obuchowski.

Budgeted item.  Voted and approved.

 

Br. DeRose moved up to $150 for bread for soup and bread suppers. Seconded by Br Cronin.

            Voted and approved.

 

Br. Garry moved $200 for St. Mary’s senior group.  Seconded Br. Romano.  Decided to use GN discretionary funds.

 

Br. Cella is seeking 12-14 folks tomorrow evening (7-9) to stuff enveloped for car raffle.

 

Br. GNIAZDOWSKI needs help tonight with Mariner preparation.

 

Br. Armstrong mentioned web site updates.

 

 

18. DISTRICT DEPUTY REPORT:

 

None.

 

 

19. REPORT OF THE 4TH DEGREE:

 

Br. Conley mentioned honor guard for Boy Scouts at Mass on Superbowl Sunday.

Feb 15th meeting this month.

Will be participating in several parades and in support of Masses (as requested).

 

 

20. FIELD AGENT REPORT:  Br. Jones - NONE

 

 

 

 

21. GOOD OF THE ORDER:  .

PRAYERS WERE OFFERED FOR CONTINUED RECOVERY AND GOOD HEALTH FOR AILING BROTHERS, WIVES AND FAMILIES.  WE PRAY FOR THE POPE AND ALL PRIESTS AND RELIGIOUS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, THAT THEY MAY BE REVITALIZED IN THEIR MINISTRIES.  PRAYERS FOR THOSE WHO LEAD AND SERVE IN THE MILITARY AT HOME AND ABROAD.  PRAYERS WERE OFFERED FOR THE SOULS OF DECEASED BROTHERS, THEIR FAMILIES AND FOR MEMBERS OF BROTHERS’ FAMILIES..

Brother Meinsen related some hopeful and touching words from Brother Peter Tompkins.

 

Br. Steve Smith spoke about Arthritis Walk coming up on May 20th at Robinson Secondary School.
