NOTES OF ST. MARY OF SORROWS COUNCIL #8600 MEETING, 1/17/06 :
1. THE GRAND KNIGHT CALLED MEETING TO ORDER AT 8:05 PM.
2. MEMBERSHIP CARDS WERE VERIFIED BY THE WARDEN
3. THE OPENING PRAYER WAS LEAD BY THE GK.
4. THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIENCE WAS LEAD BY THE WARDEN.

7. REPORT OF ADMISSION COMMITTEE:
Br. Obuchowski presented two new candidates for vote:
Candidates are Michael Proffitt, and Karl Dahlhauser Voted and approved.
Tonight’s meeting included a First Degree Ceremony with three new candidate Knights. Brother Elmer May served as Team Captain.

8. GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORT: GRAND KNIGHT REPORTED.
· Welcomed the new Knights and introduced Br May who completed the team introductions. · Announced that the honoree for tonight’s ceremony is Brother Father Barkett. · Explained the Crest · Announced a 2cd Degree at Holy Spirit Council 11922 on 1/26/06 · Announced a 3rd Degree at Chantilly on 1/28/06 · Basketball shoot off for boys and girls 10-14 at Holy Spirit has been rescheduled · Feb 4th is the Charity Ball · Feb 11th is Polish Night at Farrell Hall
9. READING OF BILLS AND CORRESPONDENCE:
We received a letter from Lake Braddock PTSA asking for support of the Graduation Party.
10..CHAPLAIN’S REPORT: . Fr. Barkett spoke of the Knight’s Salute and symbolism of the Cross.

Made a profit on Christmas Card Sales.
B. COMMUNITY –. Gene Molinelli / Br. Burbank
1. April Improve-a-Home efforts are kicking off. Tim Shea will say a few words. Br. Shea reported that we are seeking sites. 5. Food for Others –Still need two knights to volunteer for 1 to 2 hours one Monday every four weeks working with an experienced partner. 10. Route 123 Cleanup – Performed Jan 7, 2006. Next Date is March 18 for last names O thru Z, and anyone who missed the first two dates. 11. Special Olympics planning meeting is starting with Roger Wesley in the lead and significant help from Kurt Meinsen.

Br Cella moved annual ad for Marion Homes in the Ball brochure (budgeted amount) $500. Seconded by Br. Barone. Voted and approved.
Br. Molinelli moved $400 for Lamb Center for chairs. Seconded Br. Meinsen. Held til next meeting.
Br. DeRose moved $109 for completion of Burke Lake Park Community Project (benches). Seconded by Br. Romana. Voted and approved.
Br. Gilding moved $1,500 to support buses for March for Life. Seconded Br. Jacobson. Voted and approved.
18. DISTRICT DEPUTY REPORT:
Brother Chuck Curran reported:
Spoke particularly to new Brothers about the organization and Council they have joined.
Also stressed the lesson of the degree. . Delivered a plaque to Br. Barone (former Board member) for work for Kovar. and as honoree for grant to Training Center.
19. REPORT OF THE 4TH DEGREE: Br. Lee mentioned meeting this week (dinner by Br. Lee). .
20. FIELD AGENT REPORT: Br. Jones - NONE
21. GOOD OF THE ORDER: . PRAYERS WERE OFFERED FOR CONTINUED RECOVERY AND GOOD HEALTH FOR AILING BROTHERS, WIVES AND FAMILIES. WE PRAY FOR THE POPE AND ALL PRIESTS AND RELIGIOUS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, THAT THEY MAY BE REVITALIZED IN THEIR MINISTRIES. PRAYERS FOR THOSE WHO LEAD AND SERVE IN THE MILITARY AT HOME AND ABROAD. PRAYERS WERE OFFERED FOR THE SOULS OF DECEASED BROTHERS, THEIR FAMILIES AND FOR MEMBERS OF BROTHERS’ FAMILIES..
