8. GRAND KNIGHT’S
REPORT:
GK asked Financial
Secretary and Treasurer to deliver reports early so that they can
concentrate on business that they need to address during the rest of the
meeting.
GK Hovan asked Financial
Secretary to deliver report:
Br. Torrey
reported on receipts for the past month and expenses.
Pointed out that voucher
for requesting checks has been changed. Will include notation of who the
requests are for and better instructions as to who checks should be
delivered to.
GK Hovan asked Treasurer
to deliver report:
Br, Callaghan reported
balances in CDs and Bank Accounts. We are solvent. Total funds on hand as
of Dec 6th $52,138+ after paying for trees.

Polish Night changed to replace Spaghetti Dinner 2/11 in Farrell Hall
The Parish requested that we provide tools for a person in New Orlean’s who
is a carpenter who lost all of his tools. If anyone has tools available to
donate or other ideas, please see GN after the meeting.
GK would like to establish a Men’s Choir of the Knights. Looking for some
volunteers.

Br. Restivo discussed
January’s National Vocation Week that is coming up. Br. Restivo will be
discussing with the Pastor ideas for ways the Knights can help promote the
celebration.

A. CHURCH –

Christmas card sales are
progressing.
B. COMMUNITY –.
Gene Molinelli / Br. Burbank
Food baskets – Thanks
for Thanksgiving (Knights donated 21 baskets and helped with deliveries).
Christmas food baskets are coming December 17/18. Would like to collect
baskets on the 18th at the parish center 11:30 to 12:30. We
deliver them through probation officers of the County. They have asked for
18 baskets this year and we are looking for donors.
Food for Others – Br.
Mike Perry is taking over from Br. Pete Garry.
Need two additional
volunteers to help with the phone tree.
Supreme Council is still
working on Gulf States disaster relief.
Looking for KOVAR team
captains.
C. COUNCIL –
George Wassif
Geoff Smith reported on
Christmas Tree Sales. We have a great supply of trees and have already hit
the break even point in sales. However we are having some difficulty in
manning the shifts (30-40% of the phone numbers in the roster are wrong).
Need more help.
Mariner articles are due
…. Yesterday.
D. FAMILY -

upcoming Spaghetti dinner and Pancake breakfast.

E. YOUTH – Rich

Br. Don Wilkinson
reported on Children’s Christmas Party. Also a shoebox for
Christmas…..please help.
Scout Sunday will be in
February.
February will also have
drug and alcohol abuse posters and we will need judges.
Squires and Squire Roses
have bought gifts for needy families.
Br. Russ
DeRosa reported on Christmas Tree donations and decorations for Parish.
16. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

17. NEW BUSINESS: -
Br. Walker moved $750
for donation to Hope in Va. Seconded by Br. Obuchowski. It is a budgeted
item.
Voted and
approved.
Br. Garry moved $300
FOCUS group to support Matt Macheski in his charitable work. Suggested the
$300 could come from excess funds in Food for Others. Br. Romano seconded.
Tabled to
next meeting (moving funds from one account to another).
Br. Wilkinson moved St
Mary’s Youth Organization is having a Mass and Dance move $100 to support
food.
Seconded by Br. Meinsen.
Voted and
approved.
Br. Wilkinson moved for
up to $100 in savings bonds for winners of drug and alcohol poster contest.
Seconded by Br. Molinelli.
Voted and
approved.
Br Sprague moved that we
donate $400 for Ronald McDonald Houses in Washington. Seconded by Br.
Obuchowski.
Voted and
approved.
Br. Crowder raised a
point of order concerning prior vote.
Br. McFarland suggested
some clarity concerning votes on larger amounts without second meeting
consideration (tabled) if:

budgeted amount.
18. DISTRICT DEPUTY REPORT:
Brother Chuck Curran
reported:
Wished us all well for
Christmas and coming year. Added thanks for all the charity this Counsel
shows.
First degree at
Springfield Counsel next week.
George Mason Counsel is
always looking for projects if you have any, contact them directly.
.KOVAR drive is coming
soon and don’t forget to designate KOVAR on CFC donations. KOVAR continues
to fund local efforts in Northern Virginia so please continue giving.
Efforts to continue
hurricane relief efforts continue. Currently building cabinets for a school
in Mississippi. Other efforts to start in the Spring to jump start efforts
after initial push subsides.

DEGREE – PGK Donovan:
.At last meeting we
welcomed our new Sir Knights and next meeting will be our Christmas meeting.

21. GOOD OF THE ORDER: .
PRAYERS WERE OFFERED FOR CONTINUED RECOVERY AND GOOD HEALTH FOR AILING
BROTHERS, WIVES AND FAMILIES. WE PRAY FOR THE POPE AND ALL PRIESTS AND
RELIGIOUS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, THAT THEY MAY BE REVITALIZED IN THEIR
MINISTRIES. PRAYERS FOR THOSE WHO LEAD AND SERVE IN THE MILITARY AT HOME
AND ABROAD. PRAYERS WERE OFFERED FOR THE SOULS OF DECEASED BROTHERS, THEIR
FAMILIES AND FOR MEMBERS OF BROTHERS’ FAMILIES..
September Knight of the Month award was presented to Br. John LaRosa.
Br. Obuchowski spoke of grant from KOVAR to Marion Homes for $20,000.
Br. Barone spoke of 27th dinner for Father Joe Plaplanski (Sp?)
who used to be our Pastor.
Br. Gniazdowski spoke of June Philatilist Exposition over Memorial Day
weekend.

Br. McFarland noted that he has now changed Parishs and is at St. Thomas
A’ Becket and contrasted pancake breakfast there to here. Br. McFarland
also shared some cards and letters that he has been receiving.
