1. THE GRAND KNIGHT CALLED MEETING TO ORDER AT 8:02 PM.

8. GRAND KNIGHT’S
REPORT:
GRAND KNIGHT REPORTED.
Budget copies were passed out for review and the Grand Knight reviewed
changes from prior years.
Concerns expressed that dinners and breakfasts would not generate
expected income
Concern over added Christmas tree expenses due to cost of transportation
Concern over Veteran’s day expense – usually a pass through
Budget will appear in next Mariner
Will be voted on next meeting.
Oct 1st State meeting was very impressive
Started with a Mass and Fr. Richardson is a great speaker.
Marched in with 48 flags was very patriotic
State Officer reports were good and informative.
Last chance for Football Sweepstakes tickets (see Brother Lee $10 per
ticket)
NVTC needs volunteers for Friday October 7th 6:30-8:30
State Golf Tournament Saturday October 8th

9. READING OF BILLS AND CORRESPONDENCE:
One card of thanks
from Joyce Johnson, a widow from 9/11 events, thanked us for help during
Christmas in April and thanked Tim Shea and his team. She also sent in
a $100 check for the charity of our choice.

A. Membership –
Report by Johnny Restivo
Will be recruiting
after Masses this weekend. Need members to stick around and help with
questions and passing out of form 100s.
Last week Mass for
Father Tom was special, in part due to Fourth Degree Honor Guard.
B. CHURCH –
REPORT BY Tom Gilding

First
Friday adoration this week.
·
Pilgrimage on Oct 15th. Need ushers, color guard, and $300
contribution from each Council.
·
Sanctuary for Life Project. Site selected in front of Church. Have
asked Kline Memorial for a second cost proposal for comparison. Grand
Knight has some sample pictures of how the project might look.

Barone reported that the Knights need to re-side the back side of the
Hall. Last year we received an estimate of $12-1300 for the work.

Upcoming degree ceremonies are posted on the web site. Plan ahead.

A motion to provide the Financial Secretary and Treasurer each
with a computer (up to $2,500 total amount) was tabled from the
September 6th meeting.

A motion to make a $5,000 contribution to the State Council in
support of Hurricane Katrina relief was tabled from the September 6th
meeting.

A motion for $1,000 to support Robinson’s “Partner’s Club” was
tabled from the September 20th meeting.

17. NEW BUSINESS: -

Br. Restivo reported that a lady asked for assistance in loading
a truck at the Parish Picnic.

Brother Jacobson moved that we accept the financial plan. Br.
Maltagliati seconded.

Br. Gilding moved that we provide $300 to support Basilica
Pilgrimage fund (Oct 15th). Seconded by Br. Cronin.

Brother Barone moved for up to $1,500 to repair siding of the

Brs. Meinsen/Shea moved that we use Mrs. Johnson's $100 donation
to buy a pressure washer for use around building and in Christmas in
April use up to $500 total.

Poumade reported:

Commented on Charity of this Council $10,500 of the $3,600 donated at
the State meeting

Commented on the number of activities in this Council
·
District 14 was recognized as a star district at State Council
·
Mentioned membership and retention needs of the State and Northern Va.
In particular.

Setting good example is best way to increase membership
·
Suggested that we may want to tap into George Mason Council for help
with Highway Cleanup and NVTC
19. REPORT OF THE
4TH DEGREE:

Barkett’s goal is for Eucharistic adoration as a major annual event

REPORT: NONE
21. GOOD OF THE ORDER: .
PRAYERS WERE OFFERED FOR CONTINUED RECOVERY AND GOOD HEALTH FOR AILING
BROTHERS, WIVES AND FAMILIES. WE PRAY FOR THE POPE AND ALL PRIESTS AND
RELIGIOUS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, THAT THEY MAY BE REVITALIZED IN THEIR
MINISTRIES. PRAYERS FOR THOSE WHO LEAD AND SERVE IN THE MILITARY AT
HOME AND ABROAD. PRAYERS WERE OFFERED FOR THE SOULS OF DECEASED
BROTHERS, THEIR FAMILIES AND FOR MEMBERS OF BROTHERS’ FAMILIES..
Br. McFarland reported a story and
comments from children. Much laughter.
The Grand Knight gave away a bottle of
wine to winner Br. Restivo. And support 50/50 raffle.
