Brother Restivo
reported 5 new membership applications were received at the Labor Day
Picnic.
8. GRAND KNIGHT’S
REPORT:
GRAND KNIGHT REPORTED.
Reported on budget – has a penciled budget ready to be published but
needs to be published before reviewed with Council.
Knight of Month is Brother Dennis Connaugton
Family of the Month is Dave and Kathy Maurer (for August Serra Picnic) –
Note, not a Knight, but deserve recognition.
Reported on Softball Program.

Eucharistic adoration and asked for support over evenings.

Audited numbers were reported.

on activity for the month.

.SERVICE PROGRAMS, COMMITTEE REPORTS:
A. CHURCH –
REPORT BY Brother Gilding
Asked for
volunteers. Mentioned Keep Christ in Christmas. Spoke of plans being
made in the next month for more committee activities.
B. COMMUNITY
–. Brother Gene Molinelli reported on 11 community programs and asked
for assistance in staffing these programs.
Asked for a
volunteer to coordinate with Red Cross in helping people in need due to
the hurricane.
C. COUNCIL –
Brother Geoff Smith delivered a report on Christmas Tree Sales. Ordered
800 trees from a new supplier. Don’t know what cost of freight will be
this year.
D. FAMILY -
Brother Otal reported on activities. Hopes to add a Holy Family Feast
Mass and Picnic, Referred Knights to the new Mariner Issue coming out.
Reported on the
upcoming day in the country at the Crowder’s Farm.
E. YOUTH –
Brother Wilkinson reported on the youth activities. Labor day picnic
games went very well and we plan to do it again next year. Diocesan and
National work camps went well.
Brother LaRosa
reported on Scouts. All three units are working on programs and going
well.
May 6th
the Scouts will be doing the road clean up. 14 are in the queue for
Eagle Scouts.
Scouts are always
looking for projects (especially the Eagle Scout candidates)
Brother DeRose
reported on Squire Roses activities. Also reported on the Wash.
Nationals vs. St Louis Cardinals Ball game …. Weather was great and a
good time for all. October 2nd will be Kings Dominion day.
16. UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
-
At the last
meeting, Br. McFarlane moved that we provide the Financial Secretary
and Treasurer computers (up to $2500). Second Russ De Rose. Tabled
until next meeting. Motion carried.
Before new business,
Brother Chuck Curran encouraged planning tonight to act out of charity
to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina.
State Council will
be addressing issue by working through Supreme and State Councils of
affected areas to deliver relief.
Urged Council to do
something extraordinary.
17. NEW BUSINESS: -
Brother Restivo:

Reminded us on Sat
24th anniversary celebration for Fr. Moran’s 50th
year as priest.

Met with Terry
Ware of Holy Spirit who is working on voter registration.

Has a flier to
promote respect for life candidates.

Has a suggested
note that we may ask Fr. Barkett to place in bulletin

Has suggested a
speaker for us to use.

Met woman who
asked for assistance in loading a truck. Asked for volunteers.
Brother LaRosa

Reminded Father
Moad who is army chaplain in Afganastan has asked for X-box to help
entertain soldiers on there down time. Moved for up to $250 for X-box
and games for Fr. Moad.

Grand Knight using his discretionary funds for this.

Suggested we see if
any of us have older games available for donation.
Brother Wilkerson

Combined Federal
Campaign is starting; maybe we could donate to Hurricane relief.

Navy Yard is
asking for volunteers at Navy Retirement Home on Saturday (taking in
Gulf Refugees).
Brother Crowder
moved $5,000 donation to State Council in support of Hurricane Katrina
relief.
Seconded by Brother
Callaghan. Tabled till next meeting.
Brother Hovan
reported on idea of the new Church Youth Leader to do Work Camp next
year in New Orleans.
18. DISTRICT DEPUTY REPORT:
Brother Chuck Curran
reported:
Commended us on
charity work of Council.
Also commended us on
installation of Officers. Well done.
Dates –
Oct 1 meeting at
Fredericksburg will have picnic after meeting.
Oct 2 is Knights
Kings Dominion day for youth (no lines as park is closed to others)
Changes in First
Degree Ceremonial will be instituted soon. Scripts and activities will
be modified before end of year. Expect the time to shorten from 45 to
30 min,
Sept 11- 3rd
Degree at Holy Spirit
Sept 18 – 3rd
Degree at Mt. Vernon Council
Sept 20th
– 1st Degree at Holy Spirit
AOH – Half Way to
St. Patrick's Day Party coming up $25/couple. Sept 17th.
19. REPORT OF THE
4TH DEGREE:
Brother Connally
reported on activities.. installation of officers. Two events upcoming –

celebrate Columbus Day outside Union Station in DC.

Oct 15th
is Diocesan pilgrimage to Shrine in DC.

14th-15th is Devotion at St. Mary’s PC
20. FIELD AGENT
REPORT:
Brother Joe Jones reported:
-
Reminded us that
we all should be insured members.
-
For example, a
recent widow wanted to get insurance and could not since her husband
had not been an insured member.
21. GOOD OF THE ORDER: .
PRAYERS WERE OFFERED FOR CONTINUED RECOVERY AND GOOD HEALTH FOR AILING
BROTHERS, WIVES AND FAMILIES. WE PRAY FOR THE POPE AND ALL PRIESTS AND
RELIGIOUS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, THAT THEY MAY BE REVITALIZED IN THEIR
MINISTRIES. PRAYERS FOR THOSE WHO LEAD AND SERVE IN THE MILITARY AT
HOME AND ABROAD. PRAYERS WERE OFFERED FOR THE SOULS OF DECEASED
BROTHERS, THEIR FAMILIES AND FOR MEMBERS OF BROTHERS’ FAMILIES..
Brother Pete Garry reminded us of an upcoming retreat at the Dominican
House.
District Deputy Curran presented the Council award for attaining
insurance and service program objectives.
Brother McFarland reported that we should pray for vocations. And
Pastoral Council is meeting next week and asked for ideas. Sunday at
9:00 Fr. Barkett will be formally installed as our pastor. And
finally reported on 2nd grader prayers.
Grand Knight Hovan presented Knight of Month certificate for March
2005 to Gene Mollineli.
